Anti-Rape Campaign Sends The Message That ‘Sex Without Consent Is Rape’

Police Scotland has launched ‘We Can Stop It’, an anti-rape campaign that sends the message that “sex without consent is rape”.

The ads feature men with personal statements that acknowledge this, and urge others to think about their actions and consequences.

The campaign was created to raise awareness of changes to Scotland’s rape laws, which now focus on the meaning of consent and the fact that it can be withdrawn at any time.

According to the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, rape is classified as an act where one “intentionally or recklessly penetrates another person’s vagina, anus or mouth with their penis, where the victim does not consent and the person responsible has no reasonable belief that the victim is giving consent.”
